SEOUL, Oct. 3 (Yonhap) -- North Korea fired an unidentified projectile toward the East Sea on Saturday, South Korea's military said.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff said it detected the launch, without elaborating.

The latest launch came just 13 days after the North fired two short-range ballistic missiles from the Wonsan area toward the East Sea within hours of each other on Sept. 20.
