Samsung Biologics pitched its streamlined approach to developing and making biologic drugs at a leading bioprocessing conference in Boston, the company said Monday.
At the BioProcess International Conference in Boston from Tuesday to Friday, the Korean contract drug manufacturer presented a case in which it used chemistry, manufacturing and controls to design molecule-specific processes that cut development time from 13 months to 9.5 months.
The event drew more than 3,000 industry experts from about 250 companies. Samsung Biologics, attending for a ninth straight year, set up its own booth to pitch services spanning contract research, development and manufacturing. Wall graphics highlighted its organoids, distinctive development capabilities and multidrug production.
In poster sessions that ran throughout the event, Samsung Biologics showcased a streamlined cell line development platform for complex molecules that controls a drug's quality and efficacy from the earliest stage of development. It also detailed how its S-Tensify platform raises cell density to double titer, the concentration of the target compound in the culture fluid, without compromising quality.
"We were pleased to showcase our end-to-end capabilities and technology, from research through development and manufacturing," said a company official. "We will keep reinforcing our standing in the global biotech market with advanced technology and services."
At the Cell & Gene Therapy International conference, held alongside the event, the company also laid out a method for measuring the share of adeno-associated virus particles carrying the therapeutic gene, a yardstick for judging the quality, efficacy and stability of gene therapies.
