A collaborative project from the PsychAD Consortium has compiled RNA-expression (transcriptomic) data from millions of individual brain cells in samples provided by nearly 1,500 people. Writing in Nature, Yang et al.1, Lee et al.2 and Venkatesh et al.3 used this resource to identify a wealth of insights that could shift neuroscientists’ understanding of an area of the brain that shapes human personality and behaviours.
