Addendum to: Nature Medicine https://doi.org/10.1038/nm1618, published online 29 July 2007.

The Editors-in-Chief would like to alert the readers that concerns have been raised about some of the blots presented in this article. Specifically,

  • Fig. 1b, 7 doses, GFP, and 7 doses, GFP with color separation, appear to partially overlap with Fig. 1b, 14 doses, GFP, and 14 doses, GFP with color separation;

  • Fig. 3a, MI border, GFP, and Overload, GFP, appear to partially overlap.

Due to the long time passed from publication, the authors could not retrieve the original images for Fig. 1b. Concerning Fig. 3a, the authors stated that “MI remote” and “Overload” images were interchanged during figure assembly and thus, the apparent overlap after rotation reflects cropping of adjacent fields within the myocardial infarction rather than reuse of a field across unrelated experimental conditions.

Readers are therefore advised to interpret these results with caution.

The Publisher has been informed that Jeffery Robbins has passed away.
