SEOUL, Aug. 27 (Yonhap) -- President Lee Jae Myung will meet with mayors, county and district office heads from across the country later Thursday to discuss cooperation and growth strategies led by regional areas, the presidential office said.
The president will host a luncheon at the presidential office that will be attended by more than 180 people, including newly elected county heads and district office chiefs, as well as government officials, including Prime Minister Han Seong-sook, according to Cheong Wa Dae.
The session follows Lee's meeting with mayors of major cities and provincial governors the previous day, where he reiterated the importance of pursuing balanced development of the country for its growth and survival, citing overpopulation in the capital region as a major challenge facing South Korea.
